The Plant Atlas Project of Arizona (PAPAZ), is a statewide partnership between the Arizona Native Plant Society, Grand Canyon Trust, Desert Botanical Garden, Northern Arizona University, Museum of Northern Arizona, and the U.S. Forest Service to document the diversity and distribution of Arizona’s flora. Friends of Saddle Mountain is coordinating with  PAPAZ to establish a collection of all plants of Saddle Mountain and Palo Verde Hills. For more information about PAPAZ go to http://www.aznps.com/PAPAZ2.php

Collectors for Saddle Mountain have been busy, however due to the drought only a few plants have been collected in the 2017/2018 season. Saddle has had some very good rains this past summer and we are hopeful for winter rains that will allow us an awesome 2019 collecting season. To date we have collected over a hundred different plants that grow on Saddle Mountain. All collected plants were, photographed, inventoried by date, location, and surrounding plant life, pressed and dried then turned over to Desert Botanical Gardens for further processing and placement  in their Herbarium.  Shown below collected August 2018 ” Arizona Caltrop ” Please contact Friends if you would be interested in assisting the collectors for Saddle Mountain.
